Located on the southern portion of the site, Barangaroo South will be a new extension of the Sydney Central Business District (CBD), positioning Sydney as a key financial center in the Asia Pacific. It will be a mixed-use precinct consisting of commercial office buildings, residential apartments, an international hotel, shops, cafes, restaurants, and cultural facilities, providing jobs for approximately 17,000 people. There will be direct public transport connections, including a new ferry terminal and a major pedestrian connection through to Wynyard Station and the city.
Together, all three segments of Barangaroo will create a complete range of public use. Barangaroo South - a dense urban public domain - transitions to Barnagaroo Central - a broad-use civic public domaine - which transitions into Headland Park - a naturalistic public domain.
