CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION + FIELD OBSERVATION
We are committed to realizing the original design intent of our landscapes in the built work and care deeply about getting our projects constructed to the highest level. Thus, we play an active role from the initial stages of design conception through construction and to opening day.
For works within the United States, we typically take projects through Construction Documentation. Effort is focused on producing construction documentation and defining the technical and physical elements of the landscape. Our construction documents are heralded as unique in their completeness and remarkable in their attention to detail. We will focus on preparing drawings and technical specifications necessary for bidding, construction, and permit application.
Regular visits to the construction site throughout Field Observation allow us to work closely together with contractors and craftspeople to ensure a high level of execution and to make adjustments on-site.
MOCK-UPS
We often build 1:1 scale mock-ups during construction to demonstrate construction methodologies and to refine design details and materiality. On Changi Airport Jewel, a full-scale mock-up was constructed for a portion of the Forest Valley terraces to evaluate and refine the relationship of the architectural terraces, planting composition, and landscape lighting.
On Barangaroo, full-scale mock-ups were assembled on-site to test design and composition of the monumental sandstone waterfront.
MAINTENANCE
We understand the importance of maintenance and operations for all landscapes. Our most forward-looking clients engage us related to maintenance during the design process and after construction. Aligning the design with projected maintenance capacities and budgets is integral to a landscape’s success over time.
