Safdie Architects and PWP Landscape Architecture to deliver ‘luxury mountain village’ for Great Gulf in Killington, Vermont
Safdie Architects has been tapped by developers Great Gulf to deliver a master-planned residential development in Killington, Vermont. While design proposals for the site are yet to be revealed, Great Gulf has said that sales of the first residences will launch next year, designed by a team led by Safdie and PWP Landscape Architecture.
According to the developers, the site will hold a “one-of-a-kind master-planned village and luxury four-season resort-style residential community.” The 450-acre development will include ski-in/ski-out access, restaurants, retail, and “the largest ski beach in the East.”

PWP Design Director Adam Greenspan to give keynote address at San Francisco Botanical Garden's 2020 Garden Feast
Adam Greenspan is a directing partner at PWP Landscape Architecture and has been the lead designer on a wide range of projects including public parks, campuses, mixed use developments, design competitions and private estates. He became a California Certified Nurseryperson in 1996 and has brought his passion for plants to his work at PWP. Adam led the design of Salesforce Transit Center Park since the initial design competition in 2007 through its opening. PWP conceived of the park as an integral part of the building and the neighborhood from the start, with a focus on the incredible array of plants that are particularly suited to grow in San Francisco. Salesforce Park is conceived as a compact, accessible and experientially intense botanical garden in the middle of the densest and hardest part of the city providing multifunctional green space for respite, activity and education. His additional recent projects include: Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore; Glenstone Museum, Potomac, MD; Colorado Esplanade, Santa Monica; Newport Beach Civic Center and Park; and Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, Singapore. Adam has served on public art selection panels for the City of San Jose and the City of Santa Monica and served as the president of the Landscape Architecture Foundation.
Adam Greenspan interview on DESIGN:ED Podcast
"What I think you can see is that the work that we show is the work that we’ve done. It’s really important that we work on design and landscape architecture that is realizable in the real world, gets built, and is able to have a life of its own as part of a community, as part of a system."
"Seeing places take on a life of their own is the proudest moment, being able to go somewhere when its not, you know, my work or our work, but it’s a place that people are really excited by or enlightened by or moved by…and seeing people, or animals, or plants end up spending time at the projects that we’ve designed and those projects becoming their home, their place is something that is really touching it makes you think about the future, and time and how what we do today, hopefully will last hundreds of years into the future."
